A friend...

I've had a friend who wanted to do a shoot for a long time but our schedules never lined up.

Finally it happened and I suggested a location, one week later there we were, finally, both with cameras engulfed by our fingers. His style is different to mine and I am not one to use studio lighting/flash, but why limit yourself, so I gave it a go... it didn't take me long the start shooting without the flashes... and once again drifted back to old habits of natural lighting glow, every so often using the flash to see how it turned out. Generally I find studio lighting to be simple to achieve a simple look. It's when you want to get interesting lighting and thoughtful outcomes that the mind has to do some calculating. For this evening a simple outcome for a simple purpose was enough...

I thank him for being patient with me when asking all sorts of questions that don't need to be asked when photographing with natural light or interior spaces, using the light that is architecturally placed.

These photographs are a mix of 2 locations and a selection of random people.
